HIV/AIDS notifications in Korea, 2018

Abstract
The number of notified new HIV infection cases has increased from 1,190 in 2017 to 1,206 in 2018. Among them, male accounted for 1,100 cases (91.2%). The age group 20-29 years accounted for the highest percentage of cases (32.8%), followed by 30-39 years (27.2%), and 40-49 years (17.5%). HIV screening sites were 59.4% in hospitals and 31.7% in public
health centers. The rate for new patients in HIV infection tests to diagnose the cause of the disease in the medical
institution is found to be 32.2% (292 patients), with the most common reason. And all patients responded with the pathway
of sexually transmitted infection. The Republic of Korea has launched "Early detection, Treatment through a continuum of
care, Improved quality of life" strategy to achieve the global goal, in cooperation with central, local governments and the
private sector. The government plans to intensify HIV/AIDS prevention and management with a strengthened strategy of
¡®Ending AIDS Epidemic by 2030.¡¯
